Description
This award-winning animal counting book takes young children on a fascinating, richly detailed world wildlife tour. Youngsters will delight in counting two giraffes in Africa, six hatching crocodiles on the banks of the Nile, nine sparrows outside a kitchen window or 15 kangaroos springing through the Australian outback.
From one panda to 1,000 tadpoles (and, yes, there really are exactly a thousand tadpoles!), Jan combines stunning gouache paintings on scratchboard with valuable knowledge about nature and numbers. The stylized borders provide even more counting fun - an identical number of animals is contained within each illustration's frame. Parents, older siblings and teachers will appreciate the detailed information about each species in the Nature Notes at the back of the book.
