Description
In this bedtime story, filled with fascinating information, take a 24-hour animal safari through an urban neighborhood. Beginning at dusk with a family of cat-food nibbling raccoons, the detailed, stylized illustrations carry you through the night, revealing the secret lives of the city's nocturnal animals. As night turns to day, new creatures appear - robins, kestrels, squirrels, and more - and often from unexpected, bird's-eye angles. The book comes around full circle the following evening when Jenny and her mother finally spot the family of raccoons in a backyard tree.

Younger children will enjoy the game of finding Jenny's black-and-white cat in each illustration, while older children can look for 13 hidden letters, one per spread, that string together to spell the cat's name. Nature Notes at the end of the book offer more detailed information about urban wildlife.
