Description This version of Over in the Meadow by award-winning children's author and illustrator, Jan Thornhill, is a fun-filled counting book, rhyming book, baby animal book and puzzle book all wrapped in one. In this version, Jan has cleverly built each of the photo-collage illustrations out of common, everyday objects. A baby crow is made from prunes and carrots, with a button for an eye. A fly's head is a radio; its body, a pinecone. All of the objects used are on display at the back of the book, so there's hours of fun matching them with the animals and landscapes they've been magically turned into! Click here to see step-by-step how these amazing illustrations were created. The counting aspect of the book is further enhanced by a matching number of a second creature in each illustration, so look for the four grasshoppers that go with the four baby mice, or the ten butterflies to match the ten baby beavers. ![]() Awards & Honors
