Description
Folktails, (a newly named edition of Crow & Fox), is an exquisite collection of authentic trickster, porquoi and other traditional animal stories, retold and accompanied by breathtaking illustrations. Each link in the cycle of stories features two animals, one of which leads the reader into the next tale, thus "Elephant and Hare" from India leads to "Hare and Tortoise" from Africa, which leads to "Tortoise and Crane" from China...and so on for a lively trip around the world.

Humorous and evocative, this is a wondrous journey of a book, for adults to read aloud, and for children to discover for themselves.

A map on the last page places the origins of each story and describes the motifs used in the decorative borders.
Reviews
"...everything a children's book should be: entertaining, educational, funny, interactive, and beautiful."
Books in Canada
"What makes these stories great for kids is just how clearly they present common human foibles, and how succinctly. With their strong plots and brevity, they're excellent for reading aloud. The rich colours and intricate designs of Thornhill's full-page illustrations draw viewers into the lush world of story.."
Toronto Star
"Highly recommended."
